Stage-fright
By ColorMeToxic
My heart stops
and for a second
I can't breathe
I forget where
I am
as the music
takes over me
My eyes get blurry
just as I start
to sing and
they stay that way
throughout the
whole damn thing
I'm shaking
and
scared and
afraid I'll mess up
my hands get all
sweaty,
and I think
I'll throw up
but I never do
and I
keep on
singing
about half way
through my ears
start ringing
I imagine the
people as
not
even there
otherwise my
stage fright is
too much
to bear
as I finish singing
my vision
comes back
but my heart
keeps beating like
it's having an attack
This is why
I keep it
locked up inside
I fucking
hate
that I am so
painfully shy...

this was great beth, i saw what it must be like to be a singer performing in perfection with the realization that, if you stumble with nerves it could be a disaster. i think i would vomit. such a vivid visual that you leave. so thanks for letting me be in a rock stars shoes for 30 seconds!

I'm the complete opposite of who i present.. I'm shy, a lil scared and always wondering... I have no idea why I just shared that, I guess because it's just being honest... (but don't tell n e one i said that)... =)

Universal fear of rejection I guess; makes one wonder what does it takes to be a true showman, or ham, besides over-confidence bordering on narcissism? Most of us fall somewhere in the middle, thanks for the thoughts.

Same here, speeches especially. If someone ever asks me to lead a toast at a wedding, well let's just hope it isn't a dry wedding.

I know that I am an awesome singer, but I get it too. Even as part of a group, I got stagefright.
