Ever-present Metaphorical Bandages...
By ColorMeToxic
too bad you can't look
past the damage
see the person
beneath the wreckage
the beautiful soul
with the scarred up skin
the mental disorder
that tells
the story of Them
you should never judge
lest you walk
in their shoes
remember always
that no one can choose
the people who surround them
in the life they're born into
and, once damaged...
they will forever be searching
for their emotional glue.

We carry the scars of those who wounded us deep within our souls. This is a reminder of that. People say things like" get over it" and "move past it". The past may have passed, but the only way to keep it there is to plow right through.

Makes me think real hard who "them" is, because we can all relate to those controlling influences.
