Okay After All (repost)

By ColorMeToxic

The October air fills her lungs and she trembles.
All that's left are memories.
Stored in a box in her brain for later review.

Just like polaroid pictures in a card catolog.

She stands inside her head
searching with her minds eye,
the ruins,
of what was once her life.

She remembers a child, a girl,
in a velveteen dress of red.

The young girl had made a crown from Jasmine,
and placed it on her head.

Then the delicate looking girl
had skipped away...
Just before it all fell apart that day.

With mechanical precision,
the beast had attacked her.
Trying his damnedest to disfigure her.

She remembers thinking he had succeded...
-back when her scars were still red.

But now,
under this umbrella of stars,
still whole,
still breathing...

she can't help but think

she
has
won.

And the veil of darkness she had worn,
since the day it all fell apart...

was lifted.

And she has found that she is okay afterall.
