The Wolves Motto

By Alchemist

We move as a band of brothers
We're the most prideful of packs

We share no man or kingdoms bothers
We all press teeth to necks and backs

We howl unrelenting harangues at Luna
She just stays in her dark place in high grace

We rest for a while, then after our lacuna
All night we're swift with paws in a spirited race

Through every hamlet our grey coats bring blood
We are feared, unhumbled we untimidly know

We hunt, feast and play around stench in mud
All this is done under timber or in frost bit snow

Our only thoughts are today's events, nothing haunts
Because like all future kills, we take what we want

  • A former member wrote: I respect the way you were able to provide superb imagery and description within the sonnet style 14 line format. Excellent.

  • A former member wrote: I love wolves and you´ve really done a great job here. I loved it and good with only 14 lines...amazing...keep writing and publish.

Didn`t even notice, which is a compliment for formatted poems. The fact that this poem wasn`t restricted by a format but rather thrived in it. Nice dude

I always loved the wolf, the mournful howl, the power and poise, the network of the pack. I think you wrote a motto the would be proud of.. With that being said, I felt like this poem was missing something intangible, I hate criticizing without being able to give advice, but I feel like you could have taken this to another gear. Don`t get me wrong, really enjoyed this.. Love animal mythology, great topic!

Hi Shawn - "cat calls" from a wolf needs another synonym, maybe "harangues"? I think your former style was a holdover from rapping? Coming along nicely, thanks.

Yeah I thought about the cat call thing but I used it cause it describes the idea of yelling at the moon like you would a pretty girl.

  • A former member wrote: This was exquisite and made me think of a book Í´ve read about two teen wolves who were driven towards a stone of truth. Read it. This was intelligent and great and wonderful. Beautiful!!
