Space Age

By Alchemist

In the Space Age and no better off
Currency is still the icon
We clone organs and seed clouds
Our spirits are in the computers
All our friends are on the screens
We are all lab rats and our brains are machines
The trees are a resource to own
The air and water are politics as usual
Our hearts are obnoxious
What goes into our stomach is fake
But what comes out of our mouth
Is less important than what comes out our ass
Revolutions are started
But they're just cutting edge trends
Science is a religion some more devout than others
But the people that follow a god
Burn each other to the ground
People live in orbit and have touched the moon
Satellites have voyaged out of our solar system
And pictured our planet as dust in the solar winds
There are even robotic archaeologists on Martian land
We have viewed the sub-atomic
And glimpsed planets like our own
But we can't stop fighting
So our intelligence will destroy our home

Not sure intelligence is quite the right word but then again knowledge unapplied is indeed lost wisdom, well said all around Shawn!

You've summed up our age rather honestly and thoroughly, its bleak as hell. Is there no hope for humanity in this technological age? Love the beat style as always - XXOO Scholar

Just read this again and it reminded me of something my grandma used to say, "the path to hell is paved with good intentions" - XXOO Scholar

I Know I put "future" as a tag word and this could also be considered sci-fi I guess but all these things have happened already so this really isn't either, it's more a list of facts I came up with for a list contest a while back but the last line is just a dark prophecy that most see coming if we can't find a way to stop killing each other with more and more powerful weapons and destroying our planet.

I fucking loved this! No words have ever been truer, i often think about what our world is coming to. "What goes into our stomach is fake But what comes out of our mouth Is less important than what comes out our ass" Best part by far, it made me laugh a little :p awesome xoxo
