Words in Dirty Hands

By Alchemist

These are words in dirty hands
Spit at but still wallowing in those nasty stares
Swallow down all that's discusting in our head
On to new paths but still following the ones left
Dragging the waters and watching sands shift
These are words in dirty hands
A toast to new gods, old souls and lost friends
Beholden to the thought of man's polluted lands
Rolled in the dust as life familiarly breathes in
And that something that welcomes your sin
These are words in dirty hands
A sign of the times read from calloused palms
If scars told stories would it be horror they write
Or inspiration, what they learned from the fight
Not like always and hide the dark from the light
These are words in dirty hands

I liked this piece and the imagery you used. I particularly liked the lines "A sign of the times read from calloused palms If scars told stories would it be horror they write Or inspiration, what they learned from the fight". The idea of reading the story from the calloused palm is interesting! Ciao, T/S Scholar
