Wanton Sublunary

By Alchemist

I believe the gods created man
                        Because gods                        can’t kill themselves
These gods are at odds                                  on how to take heed
Their just jostling the levers                                        and tickling the strings
And they know as much                                     as we do as to where it may lead
We want the temporal
To be sublime and
Easy to figure, but
With an empyrean                                hierarchy who's the luminary
The lion that gets                                         to become the prophecy
Or the personification                                            of mere presence
The "I" that's vision is                                                   revolutionary
But doesn't deserve the                                                        title "I"
    When you can’t commit                                                   suicide
            You commit crimes                                    against nature
And hope someone pulls your card

The notion that god(s) are just as human as we are, prone to jealousy and violence, that jealousy and violence were forced apon us, set in stone, destined to be our very nature. The ending, I think, lends a feeling of, if not guilt then at least a longing to be guilty. Pull my card, pull my strings, unravel me. Fix me. God is an imperfect form.

Like the creative format, fun to read, but then you always are. I always thought it was a silly idea that there were supreme beings in the sky controlling or playing with us like dolls. I figured it was man's excuse for not wanting to be responsible for their/our actions - XXOO Scholar

An interesting theme her, and perhaps a reference to the lion of Narnia too (can't recall his name). So the Gods are just jerking us around for their amusement - and the all knowing stuff is a bunch of bunk. Someday we'll know for sure, maybe, cheers!
