Metamorphosis

By Alchemist

Neptune's trident fell
As a false duchess was born
Would've been killed if she was a boy

The daughter of
An Atlantis seaweed farmer
And a royal transhuman diplomat

The gross toad-child princess
With the lotus helm & titanium butterfly wings
Forced to pledge loyalty to one of two utopian societies

She kisses a sleeping shell clad shogun for a moonspell
To get his sons to harbor a seahorse samurai's honor
And for him to pay with a cosmic homage

With a paid assassination on herself
So the evolved goddess can rest under
The shark's fire & carnation coral gardens

A twisted plot to shed her skin
& re-emerge as a lady of the land
But she may war with the gods over the rules

Because the science of minds
Is an imperfect match to the matters of math
& the forefathers of stellar empires made laws to abide

And so the ancient alchemist
Of metals and magics appiles his will
Cries in his mutator to help a hopeless girl

The energy transforms tipping the scales
& with his scalpel removes his own plasma
With the alembic blazing and essence distilled

The runes and crystals ruined by the ritual
She reappears more monstrous than before
Now a mermaid cursed to live in a deep sea home

The illustrious sanctuary of a liquid universe
With stained glass spires and cathedrals for Poseidon
A lair unparrelled by concrete jungles built by man's mechanics

But the beauty in this city the beholder didn't see
She only witnessed her own reflection, an octopus monstrosity
No shooting stars to wish upon just fishhooks to snag her dreams

The value of her soul was more than her mutated human form
And the cost of her death though it was worth a great deal
Wasn't an equivalent exchange for her rebirth

The trinity of metamorphosis
What is a suitable substitute for life or a world?
It may refract in water or change through the years

Decades.........
Generations..........
Millennia......................

But the answer from the masters
In oceans of stars is and always will be
The interpretation of justice, patience and freewill

You may be able to revamp your image
But you can never rebuild a heart
Or trade longing for wisdom

Making a pact with time to choose between
Balance and chaos, lovely nature or abyssal space
Is a fool's errand just wait and see what becomes with age

It does have an overwelming wisdom to it.Some one called me a young old man once.I would say you fit the mold better than I do after reading this.Searching every where for beauty except with in herself.Loved the story and the way yo conveyed it.NICE

Time and old age is the great neutralizer of all things plus and minus, and may we be found worthy in the scales when the balance beam holds sway, cheers!
