Snake Oil Sonnet

By Alchemist

Snake oil is such a delicious elixir
Taste of ignorance is eclipsed with in

Tongue and cheek a great mixer
Laced with hope and sapphire gin

Your legs will wobble and start to bend
And the shifty salesman will cheer

He will rebuke, thats the medicines blend
All the while your body begins to jeer

Yesterdays miracles are a mirage
The lust for tomorrow ends with fear

The thrist for today is a lethal montage
Cause all I have left is this vile right here

I have no choice but to emerge
All of my dreams depend on this urge

They have a feel of the words muttered by the old crone that lives up on the mountain; that hermit which everyone goes to and leaves pondering the true meaning. That's why i adore your work so much. This has a warning....don't get caught with your pants down...hehe..that's a bit bland but the general feel ;)

I might want to put this on my website! excellent write - we have allowed the snake oil salesmen to take over the medical industry, another wolf in sheeps clothing industry and example of how upside down we are. Love it - XXOO Scholar

A placebo effect, the power of suggestion, those salesman are smooth talkers indeed. Another door-to-door miracle in the works. Quite a visceral piece, write onward. Scholar

Unless I'm reading 'emerge' wrongly... the rhyme scheme is clearly Shakesperean, but the meter seems to vary in foot and length.... a fun read, nonetheless... welcome to the valley. Scholar
