Temple of the Homeless Dog
By Alchemist
To be spiritual
You either have to be
Crazy or high
And I have been each
In my
life
And I have been both
At the same time
All omens aside
You chase your tail
To cleanse your soul
Bite to protect the locals
Haunt the chapel
Through howling vocals
God's temples
Are
no different
Than a hound's bones
Both are
sacred and prone
To be buried in earth
Lost, Forgotten
and gone
Or you can be
Put out to pasture
In
the dog houses of the holy
Watchdog in the cloak of
dogma
Over a grove like Alcatraz
With Seran wraped, fire
proof, LED walls
So bark at messiahs for instant miracles
But only if it's convenient for you who
Shepherd the herd to
the stables
Lick your wounds when able
Because
when you pick your scabs
Your chains and shackles
Are
shock harnesses and carbonite cables
Space age shrines
in heavenly skies
That's raining cats and dogs
And changes
the animals underneath
On this third rock from the sun
With too many holy grails
And not enough good books or best
friends
So now you see why
I am insane and blind
Stoned to the point of blown mind
To reconcile my difference
of opinion with the cosmos
But the living tribunal won't
blink an eye
He will be as oblivious to my words
As if
it was the minute before I had spoke them
And I'll be helpless
as a dog that's run away from home
