she's skimming across the floor like thistledown
parchment feet engraved with silk tied sonnets
that seem to keep her just off the ground
turning pirouettes that bleed with passions lost
grasping at forgotten heartbeats as if they were wishes
there's only music in her veins when she's breathless

the sky seemed to inject into her vision long ago
not with the glow of a sunrise but the silver of the moon
she still focuses with amorphic shades of dreaming
mixing a pallet of reverie like smoke and indigo
looking for the softest curves in the roughest barks
that vibrant streak of azure singing on wolvesbane petals

she sways among blushing magnolia boughs that reach for her
they know where every snowflakes kiss has marked her skin
slipping past the hollow fallen oak where her tears hang like fireflies
she brushes close enough to shiver then slips away on a breeze
impervious to the nightshade pleading for her sighs
trailing splinters of shattered stars like ribbons of dulcet desire

hyperopic dreams shouldn't dance within a myopic heart
yet there are times when the phantasms of longing blind her
steps tracing devotions like bows making love to violins
the music that eminates from her soul resounds through the sky
then one errant root catches her sorrow and she falls like autumn
