I am a rock, I am an island

I have my books
and my poetry to protect me
I am shielded in my armor
Hiding in my room, safe within my womb,
I touch no one and no one touches me.

I am a rock, I am an island

And a rock feels no pain, and an island never cries.

--Simon & Garfunkel, "I Am a Rock"--

I've often been asked, "What works of yours should I read?" or "Which of your works would you recommend?"

Well, if you want the full snapshot, read 'em all. I am no judge of what might be better or what might be worse... but to help, I've placed a * next to those that are either rated quite high (by this site's standards, over 50) or have been bookmarked by other respected poets on this site. 6 have actually been chosen as "Poem of the Day", and are preceded by a double **.

As for me, I have a few faves. Recently, "A Nonny Moose?" was a fun write. Before that, "dreaming (through a hotel window)", "one lonely night on the town: random observations", and "Not Worth the Words, William".
