did i really caress her hand today

By Armand

did i really caress her hand today
stroke her hair
and kiss her cheek
gaze into eyes of words unspoken
leaving her speechless
with heart on her sleeve
and bearing her soul on sleeveless expressions in indigo dreams
a muse with a beauty of a higher standard
a one-time retainer consummated over a double espresso.

and i just might write tonight
breaking the absence of a passion lost
to a green generation of vicarious posers
measured in moments of pseudo affirmation.
a restless return to an abandoned mine
fearing that i might find a fool's gold treasure
and the harsh awakening to a poet's last song.

she hands me a chisel to free the angel from its dormant slab
as tears cloud my eyes
and i know in that instant
as the shutters close
the enchantment will not see another day.

tell me
lie to me
how you're falling for me
and paint your world wrapped in my arms
for i would hate you for loving me
and loathe you if you didn't;
my own undoing on the road to harm's way.
and so it seems
you just can't win with me anyway
the price of a one-time retainer
for a yesterday poet weaving his dreams to another tune.

The descriptions of this are so unique and beautifully put. It seems like you speak of certain things that aren't very much spoken of. I wish I could elaborate on what I mean.. but this amazing.
