Falling apart, together

By Lylani

We dance to the rhythm of destiny
Sing to the harmony of fate
Stumble forwards always looking back
Happiness became a forgotten dream

We held each other close
A million miles apart
Fell asleep to dream of better days

Woke to find...
... we still hurt
... we were still alone
Together

Every fake smile
An attempt to comfort
Our screaming souls

Every kiss
Desperate
To believe our pretense

We could have loved each other
But history stole our hearts
So we stay together
In silence
Only ourselves for company
Two broken halves
That won't make a whole

Sometimes we walk away
But we always find our way
back
To where we began

To fall apart together
again

You have described every day I've had for the last 2 years 11 months and two weeks. That was the breaking point. Now I realize the two halves never fit together in the first place. Too late. The living spirit that made the heart beat died slowly before the breaking. Sorry to get all personal. This touched me. I'm sorry ANYONE understands this poem. Scholar

Holy $#@! - if this isn't written perfection of exactly where I am, then I'm a mangy mongoose! Reading this... I'm almost tempted to say 'staythehellouttamyhead!' - "to fall apart together again" - permission to show this, some day, to explain?
