Her River Bends
By Silver Spectre
Dreaming, I saw her in her body
Taking on the shape of sorrow
A tear floating down her cheek
“This river”, she said,
“Does not always take me
To who and where I want to be”.
I watched as the earth hit her knees.
Her hair whip and fall about Her face.
Am I dreaming of you or of you in me?
She speaks to me in riddles
In and about the many ways
Her tributaries seem to flow
So in and out of place
“But in times like these
Where the river bends
Takes me to your side
I feel I am complete
And for a brief moment
I am allowed to dream”.
But the current whisks her away
Leaves me with only my thoughts
Of what seems was just a dream
Or maybe we are just two
Fragments of one star
Whom on her river bend
Stars by chance did meet

This is at once sad and beautiful, and I can feel the piece of you that this took to write...that piece gives this life and I can hear the flowing waters as I read it. Ciao, T/S

I t dawns on me after My mothers passing and this past mothers day dealing with also my Grandmother passing just a few months later as I found out. This poem is about my Mother. I never really knew who it was about and I just kept seeing her collapse and the shock of long hair from collision. I have spent the last year doing what most cant do and its going down the rabbit hole of ones self, the only way to get free to who you are. I hope to write something better for her when I am done.- silver

And she dropped some pretty heavy riddles. Phrases like. "I knew you would survive but your brother wouldn't be able to." she said it twice with no context and always left me speechless. It never fit where I would have placed it once she added my brother 7 years younger. or once, a homeless teen I was walking down the street and they pulled over and she walked up to me and said always respect women. and then she walked back to the car and they drove off. I'm standing there speechless. riddles she couldn't answer later in life as she would hide behind made up stories she needed to believe and she was so thin I could see her getting thinner as she gave what she had left to that same brother who inst making it.
