Marygold

By Alchemist

Behold the man that became a king
When money talked, he heard it sing

He fell in a ruby smolder over a queen of emerald mold
She made love with her form reflecting off of silver and gold

But fucked much harder when her eyes sparkled in jewels
Leaving the peasants needy gives the throne power to rule

The artists carved statues, the captains barked bloody orders
The fishermen caught pearls, the poachers built ivory towers

They all sold their souls, no room to barter
Jeopardizing the future of sons and daughters

Lost to men they hardly knew, no crowns in the offer
Left-overs from the feast of swords, marble and mortar

At the thoughts of a diamond the cuckoos flew
Yet, you still wonder how the kingdom grew
