-+-hummingbirds weeping in midnight-+-

By NikesRain

i did this as a followup to dragonflies humming in attics

she's hiding in the willow grove
between where yesterday dies and today fades
moon kissed lips moving in soundless songs
slipping through the rows following nightingales
trailing past smiles that fall away in feathers
she's only beautiful when she’s breaking slowly

~+~

she hums in forgotten melodies
eyes once full of moonflowers and amber
jasmine lashes whispering decadence
as lips blew honeyed kisses to the stars
it's so easy to fall into illusions arms
to sway in the echo of passions sweet

~+~

she’s wandering through caressing branches
leaves silvered and whispering in heartbeats
snowflake stirrings across sleeping gasps
she bleeds harmony and bliss once shining
ruby euphoria pearls dripping from silent sighs
soft dreaming falling on long dead roses

~+~

she’s curled up in the willow grove
and the moon shrouds her shattering

So beautiful it should be a painting. As well. Maybe it already is: it certainly was visualvivid enough. That last line is particularly divine. The greytone this is rendered in brings an extra velvet touch, too.

  • A former member wrote: .."she's only beautiful when she's breaking slowly".. again, I won't attempt to tell you.. how deeply this touched me.. how.. I will simply say these sentiments have carved my being, and to read them.. is near crippling..

  • A former member wrote: Immaculately drawn, like softly whispered portraits amidst the dog-eared pages of story book.. I should like to cradle these words at night, and cry over the paper.. until the ink blurs more of a dream.. I love you.

  • A former member wrote: *supplicates self eternally in awe of delicate words more tender than eyes can bear, more fleeting than reading can attest, more caressing than mortally possible* *heavy sigh*
