He speaks in puzzles.
By Malice In Wonderland
it's not easy.
he's just a little boy
misunderstood and confused
eyes shining with ideas
locked so tightly behind
clenched fists
and words
struggling to take form
he doesn't know
what to do
and your scathing stares and whispers
don't help
he is only human
only a boy
he speaks
in puzzles
pieces
of himself
and you
with your eyes
cold and judgemental
corroding senses
into stimuli overload
scattering precious thoughts
already so hard to gather
you spew hate
and ignorance
skating off
like it's his fault
that you're so cold
he screams silently
begging for acceptance
longing for love
hoping
for something.more
than locked doors
and the terror
of being stuck in his own mind
he is not an animal
he is a person
a walking lesson
of greatness
undiscovered
something beautiful
perfection
sweet and human
more so
than the likes of you

A brilliant, defiant and honest take on the attitudes of those who judge neurodivergent children. I like to tjink attitudes and awareness have significantly improved since you wrote this great piece.

You know you touch cords inside of me- sometimes I forgot how niave I am until a letter like that happens.. Right as I was forgetting people were hideous.. At two, he is already more valuable than her- furthermore.. The best advice I have gotten was to carry pamphlets on autism. Recently, on a plane, two women went on an on about how I should drug my son for the comfort of others- that as "older mothers" it was okay for them to say this to me.. I can count how many times I have truly felt violent on one hand- this is on that hand. I quietly handed her a pamphlet on autism and sensory disorder- and the look on her face was better than any kick through the throat I could have physically done. I hope you share this in the community too- I know many parents who could benfit from your words just as I have. Kiss the piss outta that baby for me !

makes me sick.... honestly, i pity those people as much as i want to curbstomp them until they're ground meat. what shallow, hollow, miserable lives they must lead. that is the hell they deserve. this is perfect, so heartfelt. i think autistic children are angels, so far above us they have such difficulty comprehending our feeble language and gestures and social cues. they are all hearts and seeing. you should watch the show Touch if you haven't.
