Moving Targets

By Malice In Wonderland

it
never fails

that cold knot
in the pit of my stomach
bringing shivers
to crooked spines
on the hottest
of summer days

the rings
on the backhand
aimed
at unprotected throats
unexpected
and always
right on fucking target
sharpen tongued
shards
sliding through
the tender flesh
and my ribs are bared
for the scarring

spewing
futility
because

nobody
ever

hurts me

like you can.
