soulmates

By Malice In Wonderland

sunlight
feeds the trees
fuels
the grass
marks the passing days
that twist slowly into night
waves
breaking the shores
ashes melt to dust
hopes
decay
and dreams
die into nothingness
love
turns to loss
breeding resentment
bleeding dry
the reserves of feeling
we once held
cradled in our blistering palms
smiles fade
and the will to go on
diminishes
the mind crumbles
and the spirit
syphons away
into an existance
much more hollow
than death

Intricately woven masterpiece; give yourself credit for a poem well executed. 10

Random scribbles or not, this was completely beautiful and the last few lines were perfect. The contrast with the happiness the concept of "soulmates" gives off makes the ending that much more tragic. I just really loved this.

Some slight desperation in between the lines that enhances the feeling of helplessness. It can be difficult to write short pieces so well done ma'me.

...when love disintegrates, it seems like the final curtain being drawn. but the world keeps spinning, the sun rises & sets...

  • A former member wrote: "into an existence much more hollow than death" reads as a resounding emptiness... and that title really delivers a punch. it's difficult to pen, the monotony and absence of dreaming.. the resignation. but you've done it well. too well because you opened the floodgates of my face. i love you.
