Romeo Took a Lover
By TropicalSnowstorm
she wrote her name on my
heart with a dry erase marker
needing to leave some trace
but not one that would last
loneliness makes eyes sparkle
and it's possible to make love
to the same woman for years
even if they have different faces
no need to push her away as each
time she leaves on her own with
her heart locked safely away from
any chance of pain or real intimacy
one day i'm afraid she'll try to take
it out of the box and find it's turned
to dust in her absence but caring too
much seems to be against the rules
in the end it's all about not being
alone yet i hold to the hope there's
more someday because i'm tired of
hanging Picasso's on bathroom walls

pilfering emotions in a pick pocket fashion,... by the time you wake...its all but over with nothing more than a hand full of skeleton wishes,...its not that they were all redundant,...its just we failed to put flesh on the bones we wished upon....excellent piece that deserves another run.

i love how you end each line in the middle of a clause, it gives the poem a dizzy, stumbling feeling.

This has that long faced sadness of a grey day harboring a slight wind...the kind you've seen your self in a hundred times, but never actualy expereinced. I loved this...your writting has a power and a..a...grace to it.

yeah, I have to agree with ff. 'making love to the same woman for years even if they have diff faces' really stuck with me. Because it can be so true. Your pen is driven by a powerful mind which I truly appreciate. :::OLd

the Picasso/bathroom metaphor is superb... I had to think twice about it. I also love "it’s possible to make love to the same woman for years even if they have different faces"... this is an amazing poem. Fox
