What she was and would never be

By Silver Spectre

Standing firm on the golden coast
Gazing feverishly upon the after glow
The falling embers of a ravaged heart
The ashes all but swept out to sea
He braces sorrowfully forgiving his love
Against the crashing hours of the flood
In the devouring sea of revelations
Of what she was and would never be

“Maybe”, he whispers to her memory,
“I laid upon you a life time of dreams
A gift I have learned to carry
The weight of which would drown you
The sum of which I would never part with
And how you adored what you could not hold
For that I will always remember your love
And that which I thought you were but was not true”

sadness so magnificently expressed cant help but become a form of beauty...this built a heaviness on my heart and with that last line resigned to leave me in the form of a sigh ~kristy
