the art of vengeance
By not an addict
in somber shades
of destiny
i am painting
the last sunset
your eyes
will ever know.
with brush in hand,
i call into being
the setting
of your demise:
an empty beach,
windswept seas,
the beauty of rolling waves
serving only as
prelude
to the nameless storm
trailing swiftly
in their wake.
in a moment
of sympathy,
i collect the rain
your skies had known
and procure
the faintest hint
of a rainbow
from its reflection...
but it passes
with the moment,
becoming lost
in a flurry of brushstrokes
that leave behind a sky
only aware of contrast
through flashes of lightning.
with the care
of a lover,
i accentuate
lengthening shadows
like mouths of travesty,
greedily sucking dry
the palette from which
your eyes
will never again
draw colour.
my hands begin to shake
in the knowing
of what is to come,
but their uncertainty
only stirs the turbulence
to whitecapped fury,
effectively sealing your fate.
the sea approaches violently,
her passive nature lost
in a souring rage
that threatens to consume all
foolish enough to engage her.
she spreads wide her maw,
bearing limitless
destructive potential,
before crashing down
on your reality
with the confidence
of one
who has never been bested.
i carry the weight of her tempest
in my fingertips,
and with a vengeful flick of my wrist,
you.are.no.more
left in her wake
are tattered brushes,
wasted colours,
and an endless nothing.
where once you drew breath
there are now empty lungs-
no movement stirs your still form.
in the echo of your silence
i lean back from the canvas.
exhale.
my effigy
has fulfilled its purpose.
i arise from my easel,
smiling.
for a moment, i pause,
entertaining
an almost
erotic afterthought...
and with a methodical convulsion
i throw wide my hands
bathing the canvas
in an ocean of colour
immersing you
in one final,
brilliant explosion
before all fades to black.

I felt as if I was watching you bath the canvas in color. Like what it must be like to watch god work. Breathe taking.
