An Acoustic Autumn Eve
By lupus tenebrae
When the leaves are turning red,
time is rife
with parting words
as we say goodbye instead
Of hello
to fleeting birds,
and the schooners out at sea.
Time is rife
with parting words.
Hidden in the poetry,
of the gypsy
butterflies
and the schooners out at sea.
Then return
with stronger ties,
to the pattern in the wings
of the gypsy
butterflies.
An imagination sings,
bland acoustics of
an ode
to the pattern in the wings.
Branches creaking
secret codes
when the leaves are turning red.
Bland acoustics
of an ode
as we say goodbye instead.

Very refreshing. May I ask when this was original written? I find that my earliest works make me cringe, but other find them so interesting. I enjoyed the part about gypsy butterflies. They have caravans longer than the eye can see.

This isn't really one of my "earliest", those are actually cringe-worthy as well. You've heard of the DP College course, right? Well, this was my final exam, the sister poem to Robin's Song. The earliest work I have posted here now is Padded Room, and that was merely posted by request.

Well that was an interesting piece and I have to say that is the first time I have encountered that rhyming scheme, always fascinated me to read a different style so thanks for the read ~Ash

This reminds me of a relationship that might have been, just not in this lifetime. I felt a dream-scape. That's just my interpretation. I may have another after a second read.

I find, upon reading this poem, that it cuts, incisively, to the heart of me......leaving me more than exposed, guilty, guilty of farewells, guilty of fleeing, where I should happily, heartily welcome the arrivals, no matter what colour they be.... alas, we live our lives forever taking leave...... this is poetry, this is blood-moving, mind-moving, forever-moving...... ~b

I must say, it's an honour that my words could have such a meaning to you. That's much of the message I meant to convey, time is a current, not a discernible path, filled with greetings and departures alike.
