Quiet, Just Quiet.
By TheProphetUntold

The still autumn night
no longer sings sweet music.
Quiet, just quiet.
No soft piano
raindrops on my worn rooftop,
no calm or solace.
No violin winds
creeping through my window sill,
no hope, no promise.
Quiet, just quiet.

I went to bookmark this but can't find the bookmark icon hidden anywhere. Nevertheless, this is 100% killer with a lovely lilting and soft wonderful tone. And that enjambment on, "No soft piano/ raindrops on my worn rooftop": Silent Dynamite.

There is nothing like quiet. The sounds of wind and rain and the musicks of life are of their own worlds, but quiet holds its own. Long have I searched for that quiet.

Ah, the hush is ever present now, pervading every hollow nook, every empty branch, and at night, the silence is truly deafening. Not unpleasantly, like a white noise soundtrack, it's cleansing and spiritual in all its glory. I used to shun structure, despise it, it felt like bondage to me, imprisonment. Because of you, I not only learned an appreciation for structure, and minimalism, but indulged in it myself, though probably paling in comparison to yours. Finally, poetry takes true precedence "dissing".

The first haiku is my favorite but the whole work is beautiful.

Perhaps the lack of comments to this masterpiece is simply a stunned silence. What's wrong with you, DP, that you would let a gem like this sit there without any comments or compliments? Whenever I write a poem in the 5-7-5 style it is this write I use as inspiration. I am happy that this became PotD. Very deserving of the honors, this work. The quiet can quite stabbing, in particular when we become accustomed to the noisy chaos of life. Silence can be golden, but I get this. Great piece for Autumn. Thank you, TPU, for doing what you do. You are one of my top role models in this place & I hope you know how much your words often mean to me. I had pretty much given up on the art of the word until I began reading your stuff. I feel better about things after reading this. Thank you, Matt. Please, never stop writing. Even if it's happy stuff...your work is always impacting.

nothing is "wrong with us " ...it was a much admired piece I believe...(deleted and re-posted with comments disabled ...I seem to recall)...despite the withering scorn heaped upon us by it's creator... ;)
