catamount

By Feral

Panther's roar and jackle's purr,
hodgepodge burrs of festered rage.
Crags that scream in lion'd thrall,
peaks indulge in mountain grace.

Soil to stone: the grinding death.
Coyote moons, patient sand;
deserts stretching edge to edge.
Rockslide heaving heavy breath.

Primal freedom sabre'd tusk,
restless dreaming wakens kin.
Wolven shadow; hungered lust;
changeling's love, the darkest hunt.

Dawning star, exposing storm;
howling names and drinking rain.
Open self to wild pleasure,
sink beneath the thunder'd stream.

Contented buzzard nigh on high,
sunless gazing at the wind.
Fight or flight: the oldest call.
Reflection seeking muscled coil.

Eye of hunters lost in thought;
amber, green, and bluest grey.
Seeking {caught!} the highest call,
beckons sleep and slips away...

    Sent deep into the mountains to smell, see, feel all the visuals, sounds, sights you have cast here. The great escape in written word. Thank you for the escape. Well done.

  • A former member wrote: There is a tornadic silence here, as if observing a desert storm from behind double glass. The primality of that which is nature eludes even the most one~with~it of humans. We cannot compare in beauty and cannot comprehend the meaning though we may try. In the end nature takes and gives to itself in the most obscure ways, but the meaning is the same. "Focused on the movements of the Wheel, union of stillness and change." (G.K.) It is focused only on itself...and that is where we go astray. With this i will have been touched by everything you have. i long for it not to end, and hope that it has not.

    As a peasant may look upon a masterpiece without ever understanding the complexities therein, so too do I read this.
