Modus Operandi with Lydia Jade
By Malice In Wonderland
bury me in the autumn leaves
whispering crackling lullabies
faded stories,
brown and curled
brittle and breaking
against an October moon
Cloak me in your turbulent storms
A mantle of ice, won't keep me warm
Fragile against your frost and awe
at how deep the freeze, before the thaw
And snow drift heartache, the ice is thin
The fractures spread across my skin
As significant somehow, as we believe we are
The winters sky, the northern star
mapping constellations through my veins
clad in ice and silt
we slide
unphased through the trees
unbeknownst and oblivious
to anything other than our blackhole existence
And then the end of winters hold
A farewell to pain, and bitter cold
The spring that feeds the creek unfolds
To wash away the truths untold
And still we never say goodbye a soft release from weary eyes
Yet somehow, there seems to grow
From wild fields no man could sew
The light that dawns to sway and feed
The heavy hearts untended needs
And hope is grown, from unlikely seeds
and we bathe in the dew of the cherry blossoms
pillowed in their petals
breathing in the renewal of the melting cold
we danced among the skeletal frameworks of trees
weaving through the heady mists of coming leaves
our fingers winding like ivy
blooming over shedding skins
rooting into the skies of tomorrow
Alas
Should we stale in the stifling sun
Having come as far, as we could run
Remember how we were:
Refreshed by breezes that around us roll
The fields we lay in like waves of gold
And dash our lovers hearts with marks
That we would know by touch in the faceless dark
Eased from frolics to comfortable walks
And from eager shouts to quiet talks
A dawn that shifts to clear blue skies
And reflects the summer in youthful eyes
and autumn beckons
in trembling form
curling the brittle eaves once more,
heralding a return
crumbling to dust around our fingers
reduced to bone
