Xenodochial Eyes

By lupus tenebrae

You must be my friend,
my one and only, as defined,
by xenodochial eyes

I’ve had since the snow melted,
and the rain became prisms,
you must be my friend,

Because you found me,
and gave me a word in edgewise,
my one and only, as defined

When we coloured in the lines,
and played the games provided
by xendochial eyes.

Author's Note:

Xenodochial was defined by a friend once, as being receptive to strangers. On a side note, I can't write when I'm depressed.

I don't think you give yourself enough credit. I like how you used this unusual word.

I love it! I knew you'd eventually make use of that word. Excellent job. Scholar

You're not too far off, it's actually cascade, which is essentially the free-form equivalent to villanelle. It's quickly become a staple of mine. Thanks, Dan. Scholar
