A Missive in the Sky

By lupus tenebrae

A black-bird frills its epaulettes
to chide a raucous cur
who minces words with shadows-
and phantoms in his fur.
Jet-trails raze the sky-line with
their missive in the clouds-
and the pink of slinking sunset
shrinks past its wispy shroud.
