Wooden Eagles

By lupus tenebrae

The saws had fallen silent today.
finished carving forms of art.
The wooden eagles had flown away.

Why don’t the eagles ever stay?
Cedar wings are splitting apart.
The saws had fallen silent today.

Repair them while the butterflies pray.
regale their story from the start.
The wooden eagles had flown away.

The craftsman never had his say,
never got to play his part.
the saws had fallen silent today.

Unwilling artist is in the way,
stop the beating of his heart.
The wooden eagles had flown away.

They’re soaring over his coffin today,
becoming blurry as they dart.
The saws had fallen silent today,
the wooden eagles had flown away.

The carpenter's saw has fallen silent and his works cry sawdust tears for his passing. Great tribute and I'm sure he is smiling down, thanks Wolfie.
