Desert Dawn (patrotism)

By lupus tenebrae

Returning to the desert dawn,
steeled resolve and polished gun,
will you still go marching on?

Charging to engage your prey,
passion of the burning sun
returning to the desert dawn.

Shrapnel scars are day-to-day,
cost for every battle won,
will you still go marching on?

Tanks stampeding down the way,
colonel says the battle’s done,
returning to the desert dawn.

Sweeping husks of urban fray,
keeping enemies on the run,
will you still go marching on?

Board the airplane home someday,
lift burdens that weigh a ton.
Returning to the desert dawn,
will you still go marching on?

For some it never stops - this was the underlying message in this for me, thanks Wolfie.
