where are my enemies now? (w/the sensational Solace)

By knightmirror

whispers in envelopes
sealed with fate teasing grace
causing tears to drool
from corners of blind eyes seeing
them welt up behind
cataract pupils scathed and scratched
on smooth surfaced
stories gathering around a burntout fire

wiped dignity on flesh
tainted by the misery of mystery
and half hearted enthusiasm
breeding from grief stricken moments
that stalk each moment, malignant
tales of torpid inanities extenuating
into lengthy tedium's
cold ashes fluttering into the wind

becoming caught up in the freeway
of breezes drifting in and out
of on-ramps closed for construction
as the clouds crumble beneath
our feet with fictitious fabrications
fumbling fantasies with fissured
fables opening portals to realms
where reality can rest

in piles of old magazines displaying
smokestacks in the background, airbrushed
modernity paves over the values
and replaces them with tissue paper
so you can cry out the frustration
and sit back, comfortable with indolence
fairytales fading into demoralisations
and irreverent book burning despondency

from the charred remains of soot
filled Christmas Stockings
recycled brown bagged emotions
crumple in clinched fisted cliches
littering lovely legends of
lustfilled heartless characters into
determined windwaves that
suffer from low tides trivial game
keeping me guessing

the moon heralds its ebb and flow
to the dreg and snow of this heart
a mere organ wasted with wailing
and unworthy widower tears escaping
like hot springs on bitter cold nights
that read like catechisms explaining
cataclysms and the way to a clumsy catastrophe
directionless and deemed desultory

unheard questions asked
silently like snowflakes drifting
down to greet us with the
answers we've been searching for
all this time........
all this time........
we've wasted because the
solutions are easy it's the problem
that gets us in these
messes is a complex code difficult to break

an enigma wrapped in a sententious bundle
that is serious and resembling sentience
as complacency carves its networks into
a system that requires attention, not apprehension
dual representatives bejewelled and bedecked
with demagoguery and flag fisted denigration
as subtle as the screams of the sick in Swahili
or waif thin urchins shooting up sarin gas

where are my enemies now?

Your styles have melded quite seamlessly in this erudite and thought-provoking piece... My favourite stanza is the "unheard questions asked..." one, although this is quality throughout. Wonderful skillblending. :)
