February Moon

By lupus tenebrae

Full February moon,
tired of the lunatics
and connotations
defining the outlines
of its shadow.

Tired for the sake
of being tired
as a pen
floating lifelessly
on ball bearings.

The tassels of a bookmark
draping low
in lethargy,
feeling too weary
to continue the next chapter,

but knowing, in the morning,
all the words will still be there.

Author's Note:

I tend not to write when I'm tired, mainly because when I wake up, the poem's the first thing I see.
