A good book or an old lover
By Lylani
I read you a long time ago
Highlighting the parts of you I loved
Skimming them
living them
Breathing them
Over
And
Over
Until I knew them by heart
Every subtle .Plot. twist
All those characters
So well researched
Perfectly detailed
So believable
After so many years
I find you covered in dust
At the back of a shelf
I caress your spine
Thumb your dog eared pages
Smiling
Afresh
At your clever turn of phrase
Absorbing myself in you again
Fatally praying for a happy ending
Though this story was scribed in tears and stone

This is definitely worthy of a 10. Hm. Wish I could say I'd choose a book over a lover, but... to each their own. -bows

I really love this piece. Not only does it portray my love of books so perfectly (but all of us book lovers have had moments like this) but also because you have done an excellent job at describing how we can rekindle old loves that were once forgotten. Great job and keep up the good work!

I love the smell of dusty old books. The way the pages sound as you flip them. *sigh* I should get the book again from the library I've read so many times. I'm glad I came across this. Definitely a bookmark. Thank you. ~xo*xo~

Neither easy to let go...even through the tears we still reach for them. Perfect.
