A Rattling Verse
By lupus tenebrae
Just the notion
of the flagpole rattling
an empty verse
is crazy enough
to make me rattle in reply
with the old rafters above
simply looking on, humouring
me; their shadows,
a pantomime
on an adjacent wall.

Are you really...Confucius? i am sad there are no newer works from you, Friend. It is this type of poetry that causes me to rethink my entire poetic purpose. Is this not what the point of living is all about? To rattle back at the flagpole? To see the humour, beauty and life in everything? You've given me much to ponder this day.

Often, it seems like it's the shadow that's noticing you as much as you noticing the shadow. It draws your attention, so you turn to look. Sometimes, they seem to be enjoying a laugh at our expense. You've breathed this one life. Interesting read, indeed.
