Impermanent Reams

Leaves; flesh pressed between
impermanent reams, their veins
splayed, grown rigid like fossils

dredged up from ancient
earth as blips of brief beauty
intaglioed in the dust.

This piece came to mind after finding a book comprised of pressed leaves at the local library.
