Buckeyes Nestling in the Shade

By lupus tenebrae

i.

A soft gaze, affixed to a
burgeoning skyline, wide with the
young wonder of inexperience.

ii.

A scarlet sea, waves rolling
in unison, intermingling with
the Heather-grey contrasts of
the overcast day.

iii.

Sound and symmetry, flaunted
in the raucous melding of
tamped earth and song.

iv.

The atmosphere, alive, enticing;
stray buckeyes jostled from
treetops, nestled in
the comforts of shade and soil.

v.

The cityscape, alight, labyrinthian,
rest stop shrinking in our
peripheral; the welcome visage
of home waiting just over
the nighttime horizon.

Author's Note:

Pretty much composed while on the road to Columbus, it was apparently an experience that lent well to verse...not one of my best, but still.
