Red-Winged Blackbird

By lupus tenebrae

You were nothing but
a flash of fast feathers

flushing red, revisiting
my racing thoughts

as a sole silhouette,
searching for another

of its kind.

  • A former member wrote: I have seen and do question the red bird symbolized in poetry...blue angel also has a poem like this. I say in awe b/c before I 'lost my mind,' I had put out a pagan offering in the wood by my place, dabbling in my Native traditions. I did it in a very Cain-like spirit, though, due to circumstances. I saw a red bird give flight, just a rare russet feathered robin... Sorry for rambling...but this poem, I must favorite. I apologize if the meaning I derived from it has nothing to do with your original intent..
