A Belated Effigy

By lupus tenebrae

For you I carve an effigy,
and hope that I’m soon forgiven.
Oh ye who died of lethargy,
for you I carve an effigy.
Although I pain obsessively,
I pray that the nails are driven.
For you I carve an effigy,
and hope that I’m soon forgiven.
