From Whence it Came

By Scarrzz

I looked deep inside myself

Down into the dungeon,

to the dark places where subterfuge is stripped away and the conscience is laid bare

Past learning, past hope,

Past even the desires of the heart

And when I knelt down in the deepest recess of the lowest pit

I beheld a crack in the floor

Wherein was the blackness of my life

If I did not love you.

  • A former member wrote: I like this work. I like how you used the imagery of an unexplored dungeon. Its hard to dig that deep without being afraid of what you find. Great work. Very well expressed

  • A former member wrote: from whence it comes... is it the dark crack... or is it the perception of the crack... is it the love of another... or the inability to love oneself... too many questions... so little time. be well, my friend.

One long and fluid thought, revealed in a concise little poem. I like it, raw enough that we took the tour through the dungeon alongside you. Look next time for the light in your life, maybe. Well written, and I never welcomed you to DP, welcome. Write on.
