A YEPP! Celebration
By Mr King
March 20, 2006 at Virginia Road Elementary!
The Youth Empowerment Peace Program (YEPP!) is a new Los Angeles Unified
School District, Beyond the Bell, after-school program for 5th graders
which includes The Substitute Teacher Named Mr. King http://www.k12academics.com/sethdavidking1.htm
storybook, and a curriculum based upon character education, peace education,
community building, student empowerment, integrity, goal setting, success,
literacy, well-being, health, and happiness.
YEPP! is now a division of Positive Alternative Choices Today (PACT) http://www.pactla.org.
PACT is a 501(c)3 non-profit service organization which was chartered in
1994 and has been working to empower “at-risk” youth on the Westside
of Los Angeles for 12 years.
Both YEPP! and PACT are composed of tutors, mentors, and leaders who are
committed to young people in Los Angeles considered “at-risk” to gangs,
drugs, and violence. We are committed to building strong and safe LAUSD
schools and inner city neighborhood communities. We are committed to reducing
crime, violence, drug abuse, and gang activity in the Central Los Angeles
Area. We are committed to improving school literacy and motivating our
students in their own desire to learn, read, and succeed!
You can see that I have my eye on the ball in this photo!
