Spiritual Undertow

By streetpoet

There's a demon whispering in my ear
and an angel dancing before my eyes.
one speaks a promise, sweet and clear
while the other silently cries.
From the wellspring of all dreams
these two spectres ebb and flow.
Niether is my friend it seems
or they wouldn't rip and tear me so.

INTO THE DARKNESS, INTO THE LIGHT
TOO STUBBORN TO DIE, TOO TIRED TO FIGHT
FROZEN WITH ANGER, FROZEN WITH FRIGHT
NOTHING IS WRONG, NOTHING IS RIGHT
(SPITRIUAL UNDERTOW)

The yin and yang of my soul
have turned traitor toward their own.
An I that I one time knew as whole
has been into many fragments blown.
It's too late to cease the battle
between these two once lovers, now arch foes.
I'm being led like ignorant cattle
into the spiritual undertows(and so the story goes).

INTO THE SHADOWS, INTO THE SUN
TOO WEAK TO STAND, TO WEARY TO RUN
UNDER THE KNIFE, UNDER THE GUN
NOTHING IS LEFT, NOTHING IS FUN
(SPIRITUAL UNDERTOW)

Drowning in a blue-green ocean,
nothing to grasp, no one to save me.
A victim of some mad magician's potion,
unseen forces flight to enslave me.
Yet in this dying, I might still live
as did the phonenix bird of lore.
I will give until none's left to give
then I shall give again once more.

INTO THE DARKNESS, INTO THE LIGHT
TOO STUBBORN TO DIE, TOO TIRED TO FIGHT
FROZEN WITH ANGER, FORZEN WITH FRIGHT
NOTHING IS WRONG, NOTHING IS RIGHT
(SPIRITUAL UNDERTOW)

OUT OF THE DEPTHS, OUT OF THIS HELL
DRINK FROM THE CHALICE, DRINK FROM THE WELL
NO ONE TO WITNESS, NO ONE TO TELL
WHO SINGS THE SONG, WHO RINGS THE BELL
(IN THE SPIRITUAL UNDERTOWS)

This is really interesting. I like the amount of power you write with (even when you don't capitalize). You seem very confident. Nice to meet you.

The battle in one, is the battle in all. I realy enjoyed this work, and even if it holds alot of depth the flow isnt lacking at all. Great. Welcome to Dp. ¦Ñªê
