damn you, Hunter

By KittyStryker

you asshole

you were one
of the few
still shameless enough
to be honest
in a place where
honesty
is not only the worst policy
it's a crime

fear
and loathing
in your skull
is a harder drug to kick
i think
and i wonder
if that's what did you in

those aviators
and the way
you twisted the facts around
your finger
to suit you
never knew if your stories
were what happened
what you thought happened
or what you wanted to have happen
but hey, that was the idea

gonzo journalism
you called it
it set a precedent
created style in how
people gathered information
your words are frantic
and enchanting
and they're over.

we needed you, hunter
nixon hated you
and i think
you'd have had as good a time
with george the second
the way you spat out your politics
and opinions

damn you hunter
you decided to figure out death
firsthand

it's a disappointment

but i'm not
surprised.

You are like a mentor in your words, you bring to light so many previously unconsidered angles in the most subtle ways... this is absolutely wonderful, and flowed like honey:) Scholar

A sad day, though not surprising at all, nonetheless a legend that once was is now no more. brings the reality closer, and leaves only a cold sad feeling...
