The Oak
By Mr King
The oak from which I came loved my Grandpa.
She loves antiques.
She loves Los Angeles.
The oak from which I came taught me right from wrong.
She taught me...
"Old junk is better than new crap."
The oak from which I came took me in when I leaped and I fell.
She always gives and gives to those like...
Greenpeace, Meals on Wheels, and PETA.
And when everyone else wanted Christmas Eve...
She gave that away too.
The oak from which I came faced life's fire...
And she got burned and felt the pain.
But she stood up and held our family together...
Over and over again.
And when I saw the world's injustice and I told her...
She reminded me that I was "singing to the choir."
The oak from which I came loved me and she told me that...
Hugging me was "like hugging an oak tree."
But my Grandma is really the towering oak from which I came...
And I was the acorn.

Better to eulogize the living while living because they get to be here in the flesh for it with you... ALL LOVE, Seth

I just read this after seeing Elisa 2's comment... Technically, I would've had 2 grandmas... One died before I was born... The other was out of her mind...

If I write the way you do about your own relations, I'm no longer writing a poem, but writing a eulogy for someone's funeral in this world.
