The Multiple Minds of a Fractured Persona
By Just Dave
Michael and Joseph were one in the same
Two different people who shared the same brain
Joseph was born because Michael was weak
With one in control the other would sleep
Fractured by rape and years in a cage
Destroyed by a man with unchecked rage
The day they were saved they both went away
And a frightened young boy was born that same day
His name was Bill and now there were three
A 10 year old boy still trapped on his knees
Out he would come, in the dark of night
To wail and scream till dawns early light
I was born last. My name is just dave
I'm here to stay for all that I gave
I deserve this life although it's not mine
I deserve each pleasure, each food, each wine
For 3-1/2 years I lived that way
My diligent work had kept them at bay
I knew of them and they knew of me
I kept them caged or I set them free
Until one night when it all slipped away
The gatekeeper's sleep had a steep price to pay
Like a horrible dream it all fell apart
With Joseph's rage being only the start
In the alley dark is where Bill would hide
With Joseph and Michael not far behind
By the time I arrived it had all spiraled down
Bill's ceaseless screams while forced to the ground
I asked Joseph why he'd do what he would
He promised he'd stop if only he could
Joseph was sure if Bill were gone
The rest, in harmony, would carry on
He pressed the gun against Bill's head
He prayed to God for it to all end
He pulled the trigger and we all fell down
Spilling our lives on the cold winters ground
When I awoke, they were all tucked away
Like I said to you once, I'm here to stay
I've taken it back because the others are weak
And I'll forever search for the peace that we seek
Author's Note:
Michael was 10 when he was kidnapped, raped and caged. After years of captivity his mind split into multiple alters. Michael is weak. Joseph is always enraged. Bill is forever 10 on the first day he went missing. I'm just Dave. And I'm the gatekeeperComments on "The Multiple Minds of a Fractured Persona "

I... this. Sufferer, we are aloof, kindred brothers you and you and you and you(or more?), and I and I and I and I and I and I and I and I. This has me speechless, kudos and hearts. One hundred percent.

This is absolutely fucking amazing. You managed to make such a complex thing so easy to understand. I relate to multiple personalities although I am only made up of 2...this must be agonisingly hard to control. Excellent ink

That was an intense piece! Interesting content, which was thought provoking...was the suicide attempt real, or a symbolic act? Is just Dave the only survivor now?

A startling portrayal of something that in many small ways (though much larger for some) can make us who we are JD. We cope and move on, or hope to, eventually. Cheers my friend - Dan

This makes me think of the story of Colleen Stan. She was kidnapped when she was trying to get to a friend's house, and was held captive as a sex slave for seven years. Her abductor had her living in a box when she wasn't being used by him. This is galvanizing, and it really illustrates just how the mind works in a dire situation like this. Amazing job, dearie. This. This took the air out of me. I have a friend that has multiple personalities. I've dealt with him for 17 years. This was eerily similar to a few situations. Damn good job.
