the girl. as a piece of paper.

how do you write crazy?
she asks
while she’s painting in shades of lunacy

how do you bleed guilt if you bruise blameless?

how do you masquerade as the girl
when you’re nothing more than a piece of paper

they wrote their disappointment in your skin

[ .and. ]

you swallowed it in your pores

you are what you eat honey,

so open wide.
