An Unfortunate Author
By Crush_With_Eyeliner
When he died
those 25
years ago
he left behind
a small
Atlas.
All marked
like signposts
conveying
the
places
he'd never been.
It could have
been a woman,
or his own
self-immolation-:
but when he put
the
cold steel
against his temple
he'd never
been to Japan.

Wow...I can't even articulate how amazing this is to me. I am in awe of this piece...it breaks my heart but it speaks to me.

Damn, the last couple lines really brings this poem full circle. Wonderful job!

the strange details we remember and hold on to about the deceased, the what-ifs and could-be s that the living almost seem to regret for them...striking.

There is so much depth to this piece..."he had never been to Japan." Awesome bit of writing. Ciao, T/S
