To the baby I never got to meet:
By Circe Avalon
Without knowing you
I know that I loved you
The cord that ties humans together
tells me so
The internal bell that perks our ears to alert
even without it I would still know this
A mother to you that I never got to be
I sometimes cry
But happily I shed these tears
Knowing that wherever you are
in your shining existence
you continue
Life was unkind to you
but mayhap this fate
is better then what the world could offer you
Better then even I could give you
Your energy pulses on
and into new life to behold the world with fresh eyes
Your existence is the foundation for my hope for the future
The beam of light shining down on that dark hour that I was denied you
In a way I know you better then I knew myself
And in that comparison, I know myself not at all
You have become the stars in the night,
the sun that warms my face and the breeze that assures my will
Your life-force has become the reason I live mine out

Very personal. Love your reflections, and how you conclude them. The mother/child bond has always felt to me like something mystic. Almost science fiction, but not. I don't know what else to say to such an intimate piece. Well written.

Thank you, I recently found out one of my friends is pregnant and they don't like to talk about their own happiness in front of me, but I have learned a valuable lesson and I celebrate life now to the highest degree. Thank you very much, I appreciate your praise.
