The Cause of Our Demise
By darkness_descends
Why are humans living in fear,
That the end of existence is drawing near?
Religion vs. religion and race against race...
Part of the problem is infront of our face.
Why do we waste time in a fight
Over whose god is wrong and whose god is right?
Aren't they all basically the same?
Does it really matter what we give the "god" for a name?
Isn't it all the belief of a higher being?
An explanation for unexplainable things.
A theory for those who need something in which to believe,
To help put their ever spinning minds at ease.
And isn't religion suppose to help us attain peace?
So why do we need to kill those with different beliefs?
And does it really matter if you are black, red, yellow, or white?
It's only color, it doesn't change what's inside.
Why do we fight for superiority,
When what we need is humanity?
Have we honestly become so cold and bitter
That we can no longer live without killing eachother?
Take a minute to open your eyes
Is this really what we call civilized?
When did we become so uncaring and shallow?
If we keep thinking like this, peace is something we'll never know.
Why should it matter where we are on the globe,
What country we call home?
American, African, Arabian, Indian,
Italian, Russian, Romanian, German, Hungarian,
Iranian, Mediteranian, European, Asian, and the list goes on.
What's the common thread? WE ARE ALL HUMAN!
So what do we fight for?
What do we accomplish through war?
Does widespread death
Prove who is right or who is best?
War seems like technology
Combined with barabarity.
I maybe young and nieve,
But shouldn't we learn from tragedy?
It shouldn't be so hard to co-exist,
In a world as vast as this.
We well never find the answers until we start asking the right questions.
We are in trouble, if from attrocities we can't learn a lesson.
When will we, as the human race, open our eyes
And understand that until we can get along we are the cause of our own
demise?

This piece is so very good. Every line describes with supreme insight what people of this generation need to accomplish, not who is their enemy. I loved this piece, again your very talented.
