My Elixir/My Poison

By Efamilia

Sitting in the dark again
Head pulsating

So much wasted
I know the cost

The pain’s the same
The taste remains

My sufferance
Mine!

Bitter thoughts flow back and forth
Flooding the empty prevails
One day I will drown them all
Too late now to not sail

I strike a match to my elixir friend
That fiery demon rises again
I know it’s thoughts
And it’s knows mine
So I let it in to change my mind

Shadows dance from floor to ceiling
As a candle fights the cold of evening
I watch intently as if dreaming
Amused as they mimic my feelings

I strike a match to put to pages
Forgotten plays, forgotten stages
The smoke entices my goblin friend
Another demon rises again

I strike a match to a cigarette
Ironic comfort - breathing death
The candle falls and hits the floor
The demons whisper “just one more?”

Flame light steals the shadow play
The ending was always Hell to pay
I drink to sorrow; hope forlorn

“Don’t mind us, we’re keeping warm”

This has really good flow. I liked it. demons don't like to smoke alone.

That they do not. I agree, your works just seem to all flow wonderfully. -Heather-
